KARACHI: Former Nazim criticized

Published July 10, 2003

KARACHI, July 9: Nazims and Naib Nazims of different union councils of Orangi Town on Wednesday deplored, what they called, ‘a vicious campaign’ by the former Nazim of Orangi Town, Shahid Alam alias Guddu Bihari, and his cronies against the provincial government.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, the UC chiefs and their deputies, including Mohammad Rafiq, Raja Mohammad Naeem, Abdul Rasheed and Mr Ilyas maintained that an inquiry committee had been constituted following a lot of complaints from certain Nazims, Naib Nazims and other elected representatives against Guddu Bihari, who was sacked by the provincial government on account of his involvement in illegal activities.

The committee, after a thorough investigation, had compiled its report which clearly found him involved in illegal activities, including corruption and malpractice, they observed. They claimed that as many as 15 FIRs had been registered against him.
