JAKARTA: Austrian Minister of Transportation, Innovation and Technology Doris Bures and Indonesian Transportation Minister EE Mangindaan signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and investment for the development of transportation infrastructure.

The cooperation agreement will involve planning and redesigning transportation infrastructure, sharing technical assistance, technological research, data management and transportation safety management.

Mangindaan said it would focus primarily on land transportation, mostly railway development and land transportation management.

“Austria has helped develop our railway industry since 1995, through support in maintenance, procurement and management. We aim to learn more from them in terms of safer land transportation, as [Austria] is a vital crossroads in Europe,” .
