RAWALPINDI: Robbers struck at eight places in the city during the last 24 hours and looted Rs700,000 cash, gold jewellery and 17 mobile phones.

However, none of the culprits was arrested by the police till filing of this report on Thursday evening. The family of Ajmal Khan, a retired army officer, who lives at National Park Road, was deprived of Rs30,000 and gold jewellery after four robbers entered the house in his absence on Thursday.

Mr Khan said besides the cash the robbers also took away 15 gold rings, eight necklaces, six gold chains and three diamond sets.

Sohail Ibrar, a resident of Mehria Colony, complained to the Racecourse police that four bandits looted cash and gold ornaments from his house.

Later, the robbers entered the house of his tenant Majid Shah on the second floor and snatched Rs500,000, gold jewellery and seven mobile phones from the inmates.

Mohammad Junaid also complained to the Racecourse police that his mother was returning home from a market when four motorbike riders snatched two gold bangles from her.

The New Town police said Ms Zubaida along with her son and a servant was at home when four gunmen held them at gunpoint. She told the police that the robbers snatched Rs120,000 cash, gold jewellery valuing Rs350,000 and six mobile phones.

Abida Bibi lodged a similar complaint with the Kahuta police that two bandits entered her house and snatched gold jewellery and Rs14,000.

Atif Ibrar’s mother and wife were returning home from a market at Behar Colony in the Saddar Berooni police jurisdiction when two motorcycle riders snatched the purse of one of the women.

The purse contained cash and an ATM card.

Four robbers also looted a utility store at R.A Bazaar. Aqib Haroon, the manager of the store, told the police that the robbers looted Rs27,000 and two mobile phones from him and a customer.

In another incident, Asif Mehmood was robbed of Rs40,800 by four armed men in the R.A Bazaar police area.
