LAHORE: A 17-year-old girl suffered moderate to critical burns in an acid attack near Wandala Road, Shahdara, on Thursday.

Police said Kaneez Fatima, daughter of Rafaqat, was walking along with her friend in Khajooranwali street when motorcyclists Ghulam Mustafa and Asif threw acid on Kaneez. The girl suffered burns up to 40 per cent and was rushed to Mayo Hospital.

Sahahdara DSP Agha Nasir Mahmood said police took both suspects into custody. He said the preliminary probe suggested that the suspects who belonged to Muridke had a matrimonial issue with the family of the victim. — Staff Reporter
