LAHORE: Ambassador of European Union (EU) Lars Gunnar Wigemark has said that libralisation of trade will lead to lessening of tension between India and Pakistan.
“A decrease in tension will lead to cut in military spending enabling both the states to spare more fund for education, development of infrastructure etc,” the ambassador said at a meeting with the leadership of All-Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) here on Thursday.
Earlier, Ambassador Wigemark told the LCCI members that increase in trade relations would benefit consumers as liberalisation of trade would bring prices of commodities down.
“However, there should not be any compulsion or moral pressure on Pakistan in this regard,” the diplomat told Aptma members.
He disclosed that first bilateral EU-Pakistan trade consultation would be held in June to raise and resolve bilateral trade issues.
