21 of a family hurt in shooting

PATTOKI, July 7: Around 21 family members, including five women, were shot at and injured on Monday by 15 assailants at Chak 40, Jagowala.

Altaf and Fayyaz Ahmed had entered the house of Mushtaq Ahmed by scaling its boundary wall with the intention of theft on Sunday night. The inmates woke up and recognized the intruders. Taking in the situation, the culprits scared themselves away.

On Monday morning, Mushtaq reprimanded Altaf and Fayyaz over their act, but they could not pocket their insult. Later, both the accused along with their 13 accomplices opened indiscriminate fire at Mushtaq’s family, injuring 21 people, including women.

Those injured were: Iftikhar, Sakina Bibi, Rani Bibi, Iftikhar, Zulfiqar, Sughran Bibi, Ghulam Fatima, Sarwar, Ehsan Elahi, Arshad, Tufail, Basharat Ali, Zubair, Mumtaz, Mehmooda Bibi, Nisar Ahmed, Muhammad Hussain, Zafar, Abdul Jabbar and Asif. They were admitted to a local hospital while four of them were shifted to a Lahore hospital in critical condition.
