RAWALPINDI: A student shot himself outside his house in the limits of Saddar Bairooni police while a 65-year-old man was killed after being run over by a car in Naseerabad on Wednesday, police said.

Unaiz Akbar, 20, a resident of Arnyal village, was found by some passers-by lying along a roadside.

They called the police who shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital.

“Before leaving his house, he called one of his relatives and told him that he was going to kill himself, but did not give any reason for taking this extreme step,” Sub-Inspector Izhar Hussain Shah told Dawn.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man was killed after being run over by a car driven by an Air Force officer in Race Course police area on Wednesday.

After the accident, the vehicle was impounded by the police and its driver taken into custody.

Sub-Inspector Altaf Baig said the heirs of the deceased did not want to lodge a case against the driver.
