LAHORE: A man was shot dead allegedly over a land dispute at Manawan on Sunday.

Police said Muhammad Ijaz, an employee of property dealer Rana Sarwar, was present at a plot near Skyland Jallo when Sarwar’s rivals, including Faizanul Haq and Rashid of Manwan, who wanted to grab the said plot, turned up and opened fire on Ijaz.

The suspects fled the scene after leaving Ijaz fatally wounded who was later pronounced dead in hospital. Police have registered a murder case against two nominated suspects and their unidentified accomplice.

FOREIGNER: A 52-year-old Tanzanian refugee died, what police said, of illness in the Jinnah Hospital.

According to Faisal Town police, Dalas Johan, who was living in a rented property in C-Block, Faisal Town, was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state, due to illness a few days ago.

Police said the body was sent autopsy to ascertain exact cause of death and relevant agencies were contacting Tanzanian embassy for disposal of his body.

SUCCUMBS: A 33-year-old shopkeeper, who was shot at and wounded by two unidentified assailants at his mobile phone shop in the Shalimar area on April 10 died in the Mayo Hospital.

The victim was identified as Muhammad Azam of Shalimar. Police said the motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.

The body was sent for autopsy and murder section was added to the case earlier registered against unidentified suspects.

ENCOUNTER: A police constable suffered gunshot wound after he challenged some robbers who were looting a citizen in Mustafa Town.

Police said Abdur Rehman and his colleagues were patrolling when they spotted two robbers who were tying to rob a citizen. As policemen got closer and challenged the suspects, they opened fire on police and fled empty-handed.

Constable Abdur Rehman was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital where he was stated to be out of danger.
