VEHARI, July 5: A meeting of the Burewala Tehsil Council on Saturday put the no-confidence motion against Nazim Usman Warraich to vote.

Of the 45 members who attended the meeting, presided over by Naib Nazim Rana Muzaffar, 28 voted in favour of the motion. The council has a strength of 47.

Nazim Usman Warraich is on a 10-day medical leave.

Later, local government secretary through an order (No 2062) declared that the Naib Nazim was not authorized to call meeting of the tehsil council if the Nazim was on leave.

The Naib Nazim refused to receive the order of the local government secretary.

He told Dawn that the local government secretary could not change the decision of the tehsil council and after the success of the no-confidence move, Usman Warraich was no more tehsil Nazim.

He said if the Punjab government forced the members to accept

Usman Warraich as Nazim a majority would resign.
