Horse dancing is a popular method of celebrating success and joy in rural areas, especially Punjab.

The horses, a special breed which is trained from the age of two, perform four types of dance routines: falak sheri, salaami, jhoomer and dhamaal. According to the few remaining horse masters of 'old' Lahore, though, this centuries-old tradition, once a symbol of pride and wealth amongst royalty, is no longer economically viable.
