LAHORE: Rain over the upper parts of the country and upper Punjab lowered temperatures by several degrees on Wednesday.

Lahore received rain in the morning and in the evening. It was light in the first instance and moderate in the second, making weather pleasant.

Maximum temperature was 26.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum 17.5 degrees Celsius.

Maximum temperature in the upper Punjab cities also dropped below 30 degrees Celsius. Snow and rain over the hills nevertheless made weather cold there.

The Met Office reported that Cherat received 44mm rain, Risalpur 38mm, Peshawar City 29mm, Peshawar Airport and Saidu Sharif 17mm (each), Malamjabba 16mm, Lower Dir 15mm, Parachinar 13mm, Garhi Dupatta 12mm, Murree, Jhelum and Shorkot 10mm (each), Kakul, Rawalakot and Noor Pur Thal 9mm (each), Jhang, Islamabad Zero Point and Mangla 7mm (each), Balakot, Muzaffarabad, Kohat and Islamabad Airport 6mm (each), while Dir received 5mm rain.

It forecast partly cloudy to cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorm/rain along with gusty winds and hailstorm (at a few places) in Lahore in the next 24 hours.

Scattered thunderstorm/rain along with gusty winds, light snowfall over the hills tops, would occur over upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab (including Islamabad), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Also, isolated thunderstorm/rain with strong winds may come about over Larkana, Sukkur divisions, central and lower Punjab, FATA, central and lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Balochistan.
