MUZAFFARGARH: Police teams made by the Punjab government and on the orders of the Supreme Court have recorded statements of witnesses and policemen accused of negligence in the Bet Mir Hazar self-immolation.

Alleged rape victim Amina had committed self-immolation after police report helped the accused secure bail some two weeks ago.

Inquiry officer Additional IG Mohammad Almesh of the special branch said he was still probing the matter of police negligence and would submit his findings to the chief minister.

The other inquiry team, headed by Additional IG Khaliq Dad, was made on the orders of the Supreme Court.

AIG Amlesh said he had heard the Dera Ghazi Khan RPO, former DPO Usman Akram Gondal, former SHO Rana Idrees, ex-DSPs Latif Kanju and Asghar.

Sources said the inquiry officers summoned journalists, eyewitneses, shopkeepers and passersby and local community people to the Mir Hazar police station and friends of accused Nadir Bhund to learn how the incident occurred.

Amna’s mother Nizam Mai meanwhile alleged that police had not arrested the accomplices of main accused Nadir.
