RAWALPINDI, July 3: Chief of Islami Tehrik Pakistan (ITP) and central vice-president of MMA Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi has extended his support to the protest call made by MMA parliamentarians.

In a press statement, Syed Sajid Naqvi said the basic problems faced by the masses remained unresolved under the reforms introduced by the present administration.

He said elected institutions had become helpless and had degenerated. He said as a result of this situation, the elected institutions had lost their efficacy and effectiveness.

The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has asked the people to join its protest demonstrations on Friday being held against what it claims is the government’s move to pressurize the alliance to change its stance on LFO.

A meeting of the local MMA leaders was held on Thursday to devise a strategy about Friday’s protests.

MMA’s local chief Maulana Abdul Jalil Naqvi chaired the meeting which was attended by other leaders including Mohammad Abbas Butt, Dr Mohammad Kamal, Qari Ali Akbar, Malik Mohammad Azam, Syed Shahid Zaidi, Tariq Munir Butt and others.

The Pakistan Muslim League-N has announced that it will support the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s (MMA) protest call for Friday against disqualification of its MNA.

The PML-N acting president, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, in a statement here Thursday reiterated his party resolve to continue its efforts for the restoration of 1973 Constitution and independence of judiciary.
