Five killed, 15 injured as bus overturns in central Punjab

TOBA TEK SINGH: At least five people were killed and 15 other sustained injuries when a passenger bus overturned on a main thoroughfare in Kamalia district of central Punjab, officials said Thursday.

Police and rescue officials said the passenger bus went out of driver’s control and overturned on the sharp turn near Fatyana Chowk area of Kamalia district, about 240 kilometres southwest of Lahore.

Five people died on the spot while 15 passengers were injured in the mishap, officials said.

Some of the injured passengers were said to be in critical condition.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the wounded to the Kamalia District Headquarter hospital.

Police claimed the accident occurred because of over-speeding and reckless driving.

Almost every day we read these deaths of innocent people on Pakistani roads by the carelessness of the drivers. Hundreds of people have been killed in road accidents just during the past few days & yet neither the government nor any Law Enforcement officials feel the need to take any action against these murderer bus companies. Instead of cancelling their Driver Licenses & their Business Licenses, Law Enforcement officials just show up at the accident scene to clean up & recover the dead bodies, families of the victims are left to suffer for the rest of their lives, what a shame.

I do not see anything wrong with my comments. The driver due to his reckless driving has taken the life of 5 innocent people who may have been the sole bread earners of their respective families. Furthermore, how many will survive out of the injured?
