PESHAWAR: An election tribunal ordered on Thursday the thumbprint verification of votes in twelve polling stations of NA-40, DawnNews reported.

The election tribunal in Peshawar heard the case relating to the election in North Waziristan’s NA-40 constituency.

Mohammad Nazir Khan, an independent candidate from NA-40, had emerged victorious in the polls by securing 18,055 votes.

Earlier, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Pir Mohammad Aqil Shah had leveled rigging allegations against Mohammad Nazir during the polls upon which the tribunal, today, directed National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to verify votes in twelve polling stations of NA-40.

The NA-40 constituency is situated in the Khyber tribal region in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
