WHO hasn’t played with LEGO when young? We all have … so when the LEGO characters come to life, there is no reason why it should not be watched. Featuring an all-star cast (voices of Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell and Elizabeth Banks to name a few) and the most popular LEGO figures — Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman — the LEGO movie makes you feel good.

It is the story of Emmet Brickowski (Chris Pratt) an ordinary construction worker who finds himself in the middle of the fight between good and evil. The wizard Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman) tells Emmet that he is the ‘special one’ who can save the good people by using his creative genius, but Emmet is anything but creative.

Helped by Wyldstyle/Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) and her boyfriend Batman (Will Arnett), they manage to outsmart Bad Cop (Liam Neeson), the lieutenant of the evil Lord Business (Will Ferrell), and manage to stop the LEGO world from being ‘Kragled’ before it’s too late.

The characterisation is the strong suit of the LEGO movie as Emmet is a person we meet daily but forget regularly. Bad Cop also has a subdued (read removed) good side which keeps returning. Wyldstyle/Lucy is the tough guy kind-of-a-girl who keeps helping friends … and then there is Batman. The Dark Knight saves the day, but is the butt of jokes here as well since he is shown to miss his targets and exudes huge amount of confidence that is dangerous in the LEGO universe.

Supporting characters — Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Princess Unikitty and 1980-something space guy — also make their presence with their unique powers to save the world. The chaos, the suspense and the thrill will appeal to viewers of all ages, whereas the 3D effect will make the already wonderful movie into a must-watch flick.
