MULTAN, July 2: The district and sessions judge ordered on Wednesday release of three under-trial prisoners from the women jail, Multan.

Shahnaz, Shagufta of Muzaffargarh and Aalam Khatoon of Khanewal are facing charges under Hudood Law.

Judge Malik Azharul Haq Awan allowed their release on bail bonds worth Rs50,000 each.

Justice Fakharun Nissa of the Lahore High Court’s Multan bench had directed the district and sessions judge to decide bail applications of the under-trial women kept there under Hudood cases. She had observed during her visit to women jail last Tuesday that 346 prisoners and under-trial accused were confined there despite the fact it had the capacity of 166 inmates.

Judge Malik Azharul Haq Awan ordered on Tuesday release of 12 under-trial prisoners on personal surety bail bonds from the women jail.

Those released included Amna Mai (Muzaffargarh), Allah Rakhi, Jannat Bibi, Anwar Bibi and Naziran Bibi (Vehari), Manzooran Bibi (Khanewal), Kausar Bibi and Saddo Mai (Kabirwala), Hasina Bibi (Layyah), Kausar Parveen and Naseem Begum (Mian Channu), Shamim Akhtar (Multan).—APP
