Attack staged by India: AJK president

Published December 16, 2001

MUZAFFARABAD, Dec 15: AJK President Sardar Mohammad Anwar Khan on Saturday condemned Thursday’s attack on Indian parliament, but said the “drama had been staged by the Indian government itself, primarily to step up repression in held Kashmir in the name of curbing terrorism.”

In a statement issued here, he said that Indian intelligence agencies had been carrying out similar actions in the past to defame the Kashmiri freedom struggle and called for holding a probe into the incident at international level to find out the facts.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan has also condemned the attack and made it clear that no Kashmiri group had a hand in it.
