QUETTA, July 2: The Pakistan Electric Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) signed on Wednesday an agreement with the Balochistan University to conduct cable TV survey in the province.

The agreement was reached after a meeting between Pemra Chairman Mian Mohammad Javed and Balochistan University VC M. A. Rashid.

They exchanged views on establishing a radio unit for Mass Communication Department of the university. The vice-chancellor informed the Pemra chairman that the federal information secretary had assured him of complete cooperation and supply of certain necessary equipment for the radio unit.

Mr Javed, while stressing the need to promote electronic media in the country on modern lines, said that his institution was implementing certain projects in this regard.

Later, he also spoke to the students of Mass Communication Department.—APP
