ISLAMABAD, July 2: People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) President Makhdoom Amin Fahim has convened a joint meeting of the party’s central executive committee, federal executive council and parliamentary groups in the National Assembly and Senate on Saturday.

The meeting will be held at the party’s main secretariat at 6pm.

It will review the current political situation in the country and chalk out a strategy for a no-confidence motion against the National Assembly deputy speaker.

A source told Dawn that the PPP had decided to take part in the All Parties Conference (APC) convened by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Sunday in Lahore. He said as the PPP was part of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy and Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan had already hinted at participating in it, therefore the PPP would also attend the conference.

He said the All Parties Conference was very important as all the opposition parties would finalize a joint strategy to launch a protest campaign against the controversial Legal Framework Order (LFO).

The matter of disqualification of a Majlis-i-Amal MNA, protest against the LFO and “efforts of the Jamali government to strengthen Musharraf’s rule in the country” are the issues included in the agenda of the conference.
