One killed in Indian shelling

MUZAFFARABAD, July 1: A man was killed and another injured in the southern Kotli district of Azad Kashmir on Tuesday after the Indian troops shelled the area, police said.

The casualties occurred in Janjot Bahadar village of Khuiratta sector where Indian troops started shelling at 5am without any provocation, using both small and heavy weapons, a police official told Dawn by telephone from Kotli.

The man killed in the shelling has been identified as Karamat Hussain, 45, son of Deen Mohammad, while the injured was Gul Baz, son of Batan Mohammad.
