ISLAMABAD, July 1: The Awami National Party (ANP) will decide on Thursday whether to rejoin the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) or not.

The decision would be taken at a meeting of the party’s central working committee to be held at Bacha Khan Markaz, Peshawar.

ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan would preside over the meeting.

Talking to Dawn on Tuesday, ANP information secretary Zahid Khan said the meeting would begin at 10:30 am following which the party’s president would announce the decision at a press conference.

The top leadership of the ARD had formally invited the ANP to rejoin the alliance.

Meanwhile, Mr Khan was also indirectly offered by the Jamali- led government to join it and offered a ministerial slot, which the ANP leader declined and instead decided to receive a strong ARD delegation at Bilour’s residence in Peshawar on June 15, when the party leadership decided to take the central working committee’s proposal.
