KASUR, June 30: National Database and Registration Authority’s swift centre has failed to provide computerized national identity cards to the people in time despite receiving fees.

Scores of people, including DBA President Sardar Qurban Ali Dogar, Baitul Mal chairman Hafiz Muhammad Aslam and Citizen Welfare Society chairman Raja Muhammad Younis Kiyani, said on Monday that Nadra had established a swift centre on the district council premises for providing NICs to the people within 15 days. However, it had not delivered the cards to the people even after five to six months, they complained.

They said professionals and students had been facing hardships without their NICs. Some of the complainants accused the swift centre’s staff of misbehaving with them on their reminders.

They have demanded the authority higher-ups to take stock of the situation and expedite the process of issuing the cards to the applicants.

When contacted, assistant project manager Omair Javed told this correspondent that the cards’ provision had been delayed because of technical problems.
