GILGIT, June 30: The road between Gilgit and Astore valley has remained closed for the past two months due to landslides.

Northern Areas Legislative Council Speaker Haji Sahib Khan and Chief Secretary Shiekh Ghazanfar Hussain visited Astore on Sunday to assess the possibilities its opening and directed the officials concerned to expedite work for the purpose.

The speaker called upon the federal government to allocate funds for the road apart from the annual development fund.
