KARACHI: Davis Cupper and top seed Aqeel Khan, as expected, maintained his ascendancy capturing men’s singles crown in the Open ranking tennis championship at DA Creek Club court on Wednesday.

Aqeel’s 6-2, 6-0 victory over his sibling and second seed Yasir Khan in the final is tantamount to his complete domination in the national circuit for over a decade.

Earlier, he inflicted 6-0, 6-3 victory over Abdul Majeed while Yasir was home 6-2, 6-2 over former Davis Cupper Nomi Qamar in the two semi-finals.

According to Aqeel, the semi-finals and final were brought forward as he and Yasir have to catch a flight to Islamabad in the evening. However, the flight was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Now both are set to travel to Islamabad at 7.30am on Thursday.
