QUETTA, June 29: Acting President Muhammadmian Soomro has urged the opposition to abandon politics of agitation and use parliament for the resolution of people’s problems.

Speaking to senators belonging to Balochistan after arriving here on Sunday, the acting president said mega projects, including the Gwadar sea-port, would accelerate the pace of development in the province and usher in an era of prosperity there. People will then have access to basic amenities.

Mr Soomro said problems could be settled through dialogue and discussion. The elected representatives should highlight issues in parliament, as their uproar would only mar the normal proceedings of the two houses, with problems going unattended as a result.

He observed that problems were multiplying with the passage of time, and resources were scarce. Even then, the government was making efforts to sort out the problems faced by the people. He emphasized that exchange of views between the elected representatives and the government would not only help settle issues but also ensure protection of the national interest.

Bakhtiar: The acting president visited the residence of former attorney-general late Yahya Bakhtiar and condoled with his son Dr Karim Bakhtiar and other members of the bereaved family, adds APP.
