KARACHI, June 29: The advisor to chief minister on environment, Faisal Malik Gabol, has expressed concerned over flowing of untreated effluent from industries into open drains in Korangi Industrial Area.

During a meeting with the management of industries, he stressed for improving the environmental conditions of the area. He informed that he paid visit to the area after receiving numerous complaints from general public in this regard. The effluent and solid waste from these industries was severely affecting the health of industry workers, he added.

He informed that various samples of the industrial wastes had been collected from the area for laboratory test and action would be taken against the industries, which were found flowing hazardous chemical waste.—PPI
