PARIS, June 29: In its issue dated June 30, French newsmagazine Marianne reveals that it was largely because of a secret report filed by the French secret services with their American counterparts that Ayman al-Zawahiri, the Egyptian righthand man of Osama bin Laden, was captured in Iran.

According to the magazine, the report prepared by French investigators were able to come to grips with what is described as the “complex system of financing the activities of Al Qaeda” set in place by Ayman al-Zawahiri, and were able to establish the presence of the 52-year-old Egyptian citizen.
