Hassan meets Aqeel in final

KARACHI, June 27: Top seed Hassan Mahmood powered his way into the final of the men’s singles at Caltex Open Sindh Tennis Championship, beating promising youngster Adnan Khan in straight sets at the Modern Club on Friday.

Adnan half the age of his experienced opponent, gave Hassan quite a fight in the opening set going down 6-4. But Hassan cashing in on his powerful service, outclassed young Adnan 6-1 in the next set.

Joining Hassan in the final round was second seed Aqeel Khan, who accounted for younger brother Jalil 6-3, 6-3.

In the under-10 final, Zubair Raza beat Khawaja Hamza 6-1, 6-1. On Saturday, the finals of boys under-18 and boys under-12 events will be played starting at 3.30pm.

Men’s singles results:

Semifinals: Hassan Mehmood beat Adnan Khan 6-4, 6-1; Aqeel Khan beat Jalil Khan 6-3, 6-3.

Boys Under-10: Final: Zubair Raza beat Khawaja Hamza 6-1, 6-1.
