Grace marks for B.Com students

LAHORE, June 27: The Punjab University has decided to give 15 grace marks to the students who attempted B.Com Part-II annual examination ‘cost accounting’ paper and did not resort to a walkout.

The university has also decided to hold re-examination at the centres on July 5 where boycott was forced upon and a walkout was staged on June 24 in ‘cost accounting’ paper of the new scheme and ‘auditing’ of the old scheme.

It also decided that unfair means cases should be registered against the students who had been identified as instigators of the boycott.

The decisions were taken by the 11-member board of studies convened by Hailey College of Commerce Principal Prof Chaudhry Nazir after discussing the incident of boycott of the paper and various complaints received from different colleges regarding mistakes in the question-paper.

The board of studies presented its decisions to the vice-chancellor who gave a formal approval for their implementation.

It is learnt that the Lahore High Court has granted bail to all B.Com Part-II candidates who were arrested and booked after the boycott till 10pm on July 1. They have been granted bail to appear for their two remaining papers scheduled to be held on June 28 and July 1.

The Punjab University did not contest the issue of bail of the candidates.
