ISLAMABAD: The selection board of Pakistan Army has approved promotion of 30 brigadiers to the rank of major general.

A meeting of the board was held here at the GHQ on Tuesday with Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in the chair.

Most of the promoted officers were commissioned in the army in 1986-87.

There are some 164 officers of the ranks of two-star general or above in the army. Additionally, 27 officers of general rank are serving in the medical corps.

According to a list issued by the ISPR, the officers recommended for promotion to the rank of major general are Brigadier Syed Hasnat Amir Gilani, Armoured Corps, Brigadier Azhar Saleh Abbasi, Armoured Corps, Brigadier Abdullah Dogar, Armoured Corps, Brigadier Abid Mumtaz, Artillery, Brigadier Syed Qaiser Abbas Shah, Artillery, Brigadier Shahid Mahmood, Artillery, Brigadier Asif Ali, Artillery, Brigadier Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Artillery, Brigadier Hamood Uz Zaman Khan, Air Defence, Brigadier Jamil Masud, Corps of Engineers, Brigadier Moazzam Ejaz, Corps of Engineers, Brigadier Ali Farhan, Corps of Signals, Brigadier Shahzad Naeem Khan, Frontier Force, Brigadier Majid Ehsan, Punjab, Brigadier Aamir Abbasi, Frontier Force, Brigadier Zafar Ul Haq, Frontier Force, Brigadier Azhar Naveed Hayat Khan, Baloch, Brigadier Zafar Ullah Khan, Frontier Force, Brigadier Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, Frontier Force, Brigadier Fida Hussain Malik, Frontier Force, Brigadier Muhammad Ihsanullah, Frontier Force, Brigadier Mohammad Khalil Dar, Aviation, Brigadier Tariq Qaddus, Corps of Military Intelligence, Brigadier Shahzad Malik, Ordnance, Brigadier Shahzad Naeem Qureshi, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Brigadier Khalid Hussain Asad, Army Medical Corps, Brigadier Najam us Saqib, Army Medical Corps, Brigadier Iftikhar Hussain, Army Medical Corps, Brigadier Parvez Ahmed, Army Medical Corps, and Brigadier Saleem Jehangir, Army Medical Corps.
