KARACHI: Former chief minister of Sindh and one of the central leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Liaquat Ali Jatoi on Tuesday expressed disappointment with party chief Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while announcing that he had resigned from the positions of party’s provincial chief coordinator and chairman of the election committee.

Mr Jatoi, who was flanked by over a score of party leaders from Dadu district, addressing a press conference at his residence in Clifton said he and his colleagues had a detailed review of the political situation in Sindh and the attitude of PML-N chief. They were quite disappointed with the role of central leadership of the party. “We would decide about our future political course within a month after consultation with colleagues and supporters,” he added.

He said he had merged his party Dadu Awami Ittehad in the PML-N on the assurance of Mr Sharif that he (Jatoi) would have no complaint in future but after the general elections the Prime Minister forgot his promise. He had no time even to meet him, Mr Jatoi complained.

Only a month back he made his disappointment public under compulsion but even then there was no response from the PML-N leadership, he said.

His colleagues who attended the Tuesday meeting had given him powers to decide future political course.

He said he had not resigned from the party membership at the moment and only resigned from the party offices as all those who had joined the PML-N were now quite disappointed including Mumtaz Bhutto, Shirazi brothers and etc.

In reply to a question, he said he had no personal controversy with any political party and wanted to forget all old differences and controversy. He said there was no role of Asif Ali Zardari in the rigging of elections as only local people were involved.

In reply to another question, Mr Jatio said that for six years he faced PPP opposition but he had no personal clash with anyone. “We are only keen to see that problems being faced by his colleagues and supporters are solved,” he added.
