KARACHI, June 25: Five ships carrying containers and chemicals are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active thanks to steady arrivals. As a result, six ships, Manhattan Bridge, Oriental Bright, Tai He to unload and load containers, Keefan and Nur al-Jubail to offload highspeed diesel and chemicals and Elonna to load naptha were berthed after the departure of four.

Five ships, Le Cong, Mercs Kandy, Commo-Jc-Jimenez, Gudermas and Irene departed on Wednesday, while Nur al-Jubail, Manhattan Bridge, Keefan, Eleona, Tai He and al-Wajba are due to sail out on Thursday.

Owing to larger handling of the liquid tonnage, to total tonnage remained on the higher side, totalling 71,260 tons. The export tonnage of 18,904 tons comprised 4,051 tons of wheat and 2,315 tons of sugar, while import cargo totalled 52,356 tons, mainly liquid.

The following ships are due on Thursday: Effberger Pilot, with chemicals, Orient Stride, Global Paramount and Bunga Masdua, with containers and Deniz Kizi, with general cargo.
