KARACHI: Preparations are under way at the Karachi Zoological Gardens for a grand flower show to mark its Zoo Day on Jan 24.

The show featuring around 500,000 plants will continue for 10 days.

“This will be the biggest show of flowers and foliage in the city’s history. The zoo is managing it with its own resources and all plants for the show have been grown here,” said additional director for the zoo Syed Aqeel Tazim Naqvi.

The displays, he said, would include a large variety of permanent and seasonal plants, especially chrysanthemums, shrubs, bonsai and cacti. Children would also see floral arrangements of animals as well as stuffed pieces of species that once lived at the zoo.

“The staff has been working day and night for almost three months now. I am sure the show will be a great visual treat to visitors,” he added.
