KHAR: The local education department with the assistance of the federal government and international donors has upgraded six girls’ middle schools to high schools in different areas of Bajaur Agency to provide better education facilities to girls in the tribal area.
Speaking at a press briefing at his office here on Tuesday, agency education officer Saeed Gull said the upgraded girls’ schools located in Raghan, Pahsat, Naray Tangi, Inayat killi, Bandagi and Sharbatai areas
Mr Gull said that Rs42.5 million had been spent on the construction of additional classrooms in these schools which was a longstanding demand of the tribesmen and their daughters.
“The step will help to bring positive change in girls’ education in the agency, particularly in the remote and backwards areas,” he added.
The official said that the education department had accelerated efforts to upgrade girls’ schools in different areas of the agency.
