RAWALPINDI, June 24: The officials of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and Islamabad Electric Supply Company held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss issues related to payment of dues.
The meeting was presided over by Brig Mohammad Tariq and attended by RCB executive officer Iftikhar Mir, Iesco director (commercial) Mian Zarif, superintending engineer Habib Ali Bangash, and electrical engineer Nadeem.
The RCB executive officer said major differences over payment of dues had been reconciled. The schedule regarding payment of dues and other related issues will also be decided within a week, he added.
“The differences over the current bills and arrears have been reconciled.”
Meanwhile, both the sides have some differences over the number of connections and total consumption of installations without meters, especially streetlights and water supply equipment. The lower staff of both the bodies will meet again on Wednesday to discuss these issues.
The federal government has extended the term of the mini-board of Rawalpindi cantonment for another six months — till Nov 5 — official sources told Dawn.
The request for the extension had been made by the cantonment authorities after the suspended members challenged the functioning of the mini-board after the expiry of its term.
The term of the previous mini-board, which expired on May 5, was not extended on time. Since then, the varied board had been functioning without any legal status. According to the Cantonment Act 1924, the varied board ceases to exist and the full board stands restored if the term of the former expires and is not extended on time.
