GUJRAT: Former federal minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar of Pakistan People’s Party claims that he has proofs of rigging in the 2013 general election (NA-105). He was speaking to reporters at Gujrat Press Club here on Sunday after extending felicitation to the newly-elected office-bearers.

Local PPP leaders Mian Fakhar Mushtaq Pagganwala, Rizwan Dildar, Zahid Saleemi, Tahir Warraich and others were also present on the occasion.

He vowed to continue with politics of opposing the Chaudhrys of PML-Q in Gujrat since he would not step back from his commitment with the people.

Mukhtar said he did not want to contest the last general elections due to his deteriorating health at that time but Asif Ali Zardari had insisted on his contesting the polls. “A defeat in the polls has never been a hurdle in my doing politics and I will contest every election against the Chaudhrys till my health allows me.”

The senior PPP leader said he did not waste time by challenging the election 2013 results of his constituency NA-105 (won by Pervaiz Elahi of PML-Q). However, the party had asked him to start preparations for the next general elections instead of going to the court against rigging.

Mr Mukhtar alleged that federal ministers Khwaja Asif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had been speaking lies in television shows regarding solution to energy crisis.

He predicted 15 to 20 per cent increase in electricity loadshedding in the coming summer. He said the PPP should criticise the ‘vague’ policies of the PML-N government.
