RAHIM YAR KHAN: An eight-year-old Hindu girl was raped and murdered in Khanpur tehsil, about 60 kilometres from here, on Friday.

The daughter of a Basti Kata (Mauza Ghunia – Khanpur) resident went missing on Thursday. Her parents and other relatives made frantic efforts to reach her but to no avail.

On Friday, they again went out to search her and found her body in fields.

The police took her body to Khanpur’s Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where the doctor on duty initially refused to conduct postmortem but later succumbed to the pressure by the girl’s relatives.

The postmortem report showed that the girl had died while being raped.

The girl’s parents told reporters the police were not cooperating in investigation.

Social activist Ansar Burni has assured the family that he will help them get justice.
