QUETTA: The All Parties Democratic Alliance (APDA), Balochistan, has urged the nationalist parties representing the Baloch and Pakhtun to support its candidate for the position of mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC).

Members of the Fata reforms committee, consisting of 10 mainstream political parties and headed by Ajmal Wazir, had a meeting with the leaders of APDA here and briefed them about the agenda and work of the reforms committee.

The APDA leadership said it fully supported and endorsed the 11-point reforms agenda aimed to bring positive change in the life of the people of Fata.

Addressing the gathering Mr Wazir said the people of Fata were not enjoying their constitutional rights and their representatives in the National Assembly and Senate could not move any bill for legislation on any issue.

On the occasion, Rasheed Nasar of APDA and general secretary Nasibullah Bazai of PML-N announced full support to the Fata reforms committee and said the tribal people should have the same constitutional rights as was being enjoyed by the people in other parts of the country.

They said the alliance had been formed to resolve the issues being faced by the people of Balochistan. They said that despite law and order and other issues, the Balochistan government successfully held local bodies elections.

They said the 11-party alliance had decided to put joint candidate for the slot of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation.

Provincial Minister Izhar Khosa, MPAs Tahir Mehmood, Mir Asim Kurd and former mayor and district nazim Mir Maqbool Lehri and other leaders also attended the luncheon meeting.
