Punjab names junior squad

LAHORE, June 23: Punjab has announced its boys and girls’ teams to take part in the six-day national junior squash championship to be held in Balochistan from Wednesday.

In all, 26 boys and 23 girls form the Punjab team in different age categories from Under-13, 15, 17 and 19.

The tournament carries a total cash prize of Rs 225,000 for boys and Rs 75,000 for girls.

The winners of boys’ under-19 will get Rs 75,000 and the girl’s section Rs 30,000. The winner of boys’ Under-17 will receive Rs 60,000 and girl Rs 20,000.

Similarly, a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 15,000 are at stake for Under-15 boys and girls, respectively. The winners of boys Under-13 will pocket Rs 40,000 and the girls Rs 10,000.

Team: Under-13: BOYS: Owais Raheem, Sheikh Saqib, Shoaib Hasan, Ibrahim Umar, Noor Ali, Faizan Ashraf, Waqar Rauf, Aurangzeb Khan.

GIRLS: Marhaba Niamat, Roshana Mehboob, Qandeel Fatima, Beenish Khan, Rabia Mahboob, Ana Batool, Samar Anjum, Sana Shahid.

Under-15.

BOYS: Abdul Basit Samad, Arshad Shafi, Adnan Khan, Kashif Javed, Nadeem Khan.

GIRLS: Zoia Khalid, Amna Mahboob, Amna Sarfraz, Sara Sharif, Maria Yaqoob.

Under-17: BOYS: Haider Jamal, Aqib Hanif, Waseem Gull, Farzan Rasheed, Yasar Sarwar, Owais Amin, Muhammad Waseem, Hamza Ahmad.

GIRLS: Alia Sarfraz, Gull Zaman, Maleeha Shahid, Zeba Pervaiz, Mehwish.

Under-19: BOYS: Shahnawaz, Yasir Butt, Basit Ashfaq, Atique Butt, Khurram Shahzad.

GIRLS: Sara Awan, Muqadas Ashraf, Misbah Rani, Samina Ghafoor, Saima Shoukat.
