Ex-judge refutes charges

MARDAN, Dec 14: A former additional sessions judge of Mardan, Taj Mohammad Khan, has refuted all the charges that led to his dismissal from service.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he said the charges levelled against him by a woman, Sabira Ruhi Begum, were intended to ruin his professional career, lamenting that the report of the inquiry into the matter had totally been ignored.

According to the former judge, the inquiry was conducted by Mussadiq Hussain Gillani, who was appointed inquiry officer by Peshawar High Court Chief Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan.

He said the inquiry report had described as baseless the charges that he had unduly forced the woman to get divorce from her husband in 1993 and marry him.

Mr Khan told the newsmen that in 1993, Sabira had filed a suit in an Abbottabad civil court and had accused him of depriving her of her house, which her husband, Mohammad Tahir, had transferred in her name. The house was still owned by her, he added, reports our corresopndent.
