Two labourers shot dead

SHEIKHUPURA, June 21: Two persons were shot dead by unknown assailants at a village here on Saturday.

Reports reaching here revealed that Pervez and Akhtar were asleep at Mushtaq Virk’s house where some armed men barged in and shot dead the two persons.

A-Division police have started investigation, but claimed that the motive behind the killings was yet to be ascertained.

According to some locals, the deceased were labourers living at Virk’s house. They had no enmity, they claimed.

KILLED ON ROAD: Three people were killed while many others hurt in different road accidents here on Saturday.

A man and his sister were perished when a wagon they were travelling in collided head-on with a tractor-trolley near Sarkari Khurd, on the Lahore-Sargodha Road. The wagon was making for Sangla Hill. Six people were injured in the accident and hospitalized.

A woman died while three other passengers suffered hurts when a rashly-driven wagon overturned near Sacha Souda.

The wagon, which was going to Sheikhupura from Khanqah Dogran, overturned reportedly due to dislocation of its tie-rod. Nusrat Bibi died on the spot while three others injured.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A prisoner allegedly attempted suicide here on Saturday.

Ashfaq, a resident of Sharaqpur, has been serving sentence for conviction in a murder case. He allegedly tried to cut his limb with a blade, but was immediately taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
