LAHORE, June 21: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Saturday urged the members of the assembly to trace criminals to curb heinous crimes in the province.

Speaking at the PML-Q parliamentary party meeting here, he also urged them to fight for the rights of people.

He said the proposals and opinion of the members of the assembly would be given due importance during the formulation of the government policy.

The CM said he would meet the members of the assembly in all the districts to discuss problems of their respective areas and assess the pace of development there. He said by adopting a positive stance the treasury benches had proved that the political system stood on solid footing. “The opposition’s constructive criticism will be welcomed,” he said.

He asked the opposition to refrain from discussing such issues in the assembly which did not have anything to do with welfare of the people. “Opposition for the sake of opposition is a waste of time,” he said.

He said the development of the neglected areas in the province was the government’s priority for which large sum would be allocated.

Meanwhile, the CM met MNAs and MPAs of Gujranwala, and assured them that projects of their localities would be initiated in consultation with them. He said he would chair meetings regarding the development in the district.
