RAWALPINDI, June 20: Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan on Friday visited the Pepsi-PCB Regional Cricket Clinic in Rawalpindi and gave batting and bowling tips to the players.

Following three-day trials held at the ARL Ground where 3840 players had turned up, 24 boys were chosen who are now attending a training camp at the same venue.

Similar trials were held at Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Mianwali and Peshawar centres. After the completion of the training process at the clinics, teams of 15 players each would be formed who would compete in a tournament.

Based on performances and evaluation by the coaches, a pool of 20 to 25 players would be handed over to the Pakistan Cricket Board for training at their regional academy.

Imran said that the purpose of organising such activities on regional basis was to ensure increased participation of people and finding talent from a larger pool.

He hoped that the young players would from the backbone of regional based cricket structure.
