Uzma moves into semis

LAHORE, June 20: Uzma Butt (Wapda) struggled to  make it to the last four beating Farzana Shaheen in the sixth All-Pakistan Ameer Abdullah Khan Rokri ranking badminton cup tournament ladies’ singles  event at the New  Khan  courts  on Friday.

Uzma notched up victory with the score of 11-7, 9-11, 11-4.

Uzma looked in fine form and won the first set easily.

But Farzana  caught up with Uzma in the second set after neck  and  neck fight, However Uzma won the last set quite comfortably to move into the prefinals.

In other quarterfinals, the winners got straight set wins.

The national champion Asma Butt (Wapda) outclassed Aneeka (Punjab) 11-5, 11-3.

Ayesha  Akram (NBP) proved too good for Saima (Wapda)  11-2, 11-1.

Saadia (Wapda) outclassed Farzana Saleem (Punjab) 11-3,  11- 5. Men’s doubles quarterfinals
