SUKKUR, June 19: A man, Anwar Katto, opened fire with his shot gun killing his wife, Karim Dini, on the spot and injuring their two children, Fauzia and Shaukat, in the Khan Katto village, Jacobabad district, on Thursday.

The Mirpur Buriro police station had not registered an FIR till the filing of this report. In fact, the police were trying to hush up the matter.

DEMOS: Protest demonstrations were held by the activists of the Jeay Sindh Taraqi Passand Party and PPP in Sukkur, Ghotki, Pano Aqil, and Daharki in interior Sindh for the third consecutive day on Thursday against the construction of the Thal canal.

The speakers said that since the Thal canal was an anti-Sindh project; therefore, its construction be stopped immediately.

They demanded that the funds being spent on the project be utilized for the welfare of the people of Sindh.

MINORITIES WELFARE: The Sindh minister for information technology, Yaqoob Ilyas Masih, said that Sindh had remained an abode of Sufi saints who preached for peace, love and brotherhood.

He said that the government was making sincere efforts for the welfare of minorities and a number of steps had been taken by it to ensure development of minorities in the province.

He handed over a computer to the chairman, Parbandh Committee, Sadhu Belo, Sukkur, Suresh Kumar, for the Sadhu Belo Library.
