NWFP names 20-man squad

PESHAWAR, June 18: A 20-member NWFP team has been named for the forthcoming Inter-provincial football championship commencing from June 25, at Gilgit.

The probables are currently under training at Qayum Sports Complex where international footballer Qazi Muhammad Asif is imparting coaching to the players in two sessions-morning and afternoon.

Asif, a former international FIFA Referee from NWFP, disclosed that on five boys from Chitral turned up for the trials. The Chitral team has recently won the Inter-distrcit Football Trophy.

He said Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Federal Area Islamabad, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir would participate in the championship. The team will leave for Gilgit on June 20.

Squad: Nasir Khan, Naveed Khan, Tariq Khan, Javed Khan, Adil Shah, Faisal Karim, Nasir Shah, Naveed-ul- Hasan, Ilyas Khan, Jawad Khan (Peshawar); Atif Rehman (Landikotal Khyber Agency), Fahim Ullah, Karam Elahi, Manzoor Hussain, Waseem Abbas, Ikram Ullah (Chitral), Waheed Ullah (Kohat), Waqar, Fazali Khitab (Nowshera).
