SUKKUR, June 17: A large number of people staged a protest rally in front of the irrigation office in Mirpur Mathelo near Daharki here on Tuesday to protest against shortage of water in the Narli Minor.

They alleged that influential people were stealing water from RD-70, 80, 66 and 90 in connivance with irrigation authorities. They said no water was available at tail-end areas.

The protesters dispersed after they were assured by the DPO of Ghotki that he would take up the matter with the irrigation department and water would be supplied to the minor.

INJURED: Aziz Sarki, the nephew of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Nek Mohammad Sarki, was injured by robbers in his house in the Rahimabad village, near Thull, Jacobabad district, on Tuesday.

Four armed persons barged into the house of Mr Sarki for robbery and when he offered resistance they opened fire. The robbers fled, taking away cash and ornaments.

SHOT DEAD: Habibullah Jaffery was shot dead allegedly by Wali Mohammad in Bagerji here on Tuesday over a money dispute.
