RAWALPINDI, June 16: People’s Party Parliamentarians will back opposition if it tabled a no-confidence motion against the speaker of the national assembly, jailed PPP leader and former senator Asif Ali Zardari said here on Monday.

Talking to mediapersons outside an accountability court after appearing for a trial, Mr Zardari termed the speaker’s ruling on LFO as one-sided and pro-government.

He said the PPP would fully back the opposition in case of a no-confidence motion against the speaker as well as its massive movement against the LFO.

He also termed the government-opposition discussion on LFO as mere delaying tactics of the ruling party. Neither the prime minister, Zafarullah Khan Jamali, nor any of his associates could “speak in front of Gen Musharraf” which was against democratic norms, he said.

Mr Zardari claimed that the IMF and World Bank had sought explanation from the government regarding the new budget.

Responding to a query, he said no politician had ever been “security risk” for the country.
