FAISALABAD, June 16: A man was burnt alive in a fireworks explosion in Chak 203-RB here on Monday.

Maqbool was busy in work when some fireworks exploded. As a result the shop caught fire. Maqbool sustained serious burn injuries and died on the spot.

TERMINATED: The superintendent of police (city) on Monday terminated the services of an assistant sub-inspector and four constables for dereliction in their duty.

ASI Saleem Nawaz and constables Akram, Arif, Muneer and Sabir along with People’s Colony former SHO Saifullah Bhatti arrested some traders along with call girls from a house in Saeed Colony. They released all of them after receiving a big amount as gratification.

On a complaint, the DIG police suspended from service all raiding team members and constituted an inquiry committee. The SP (city) after interrogation terminated the services of the ASI and four constables, while the inquiry against inspector Saifullah Bhatti is still pending.

The SP also terminated the services of constable Rafiq for negligence in his duty.

SUICIDE: Kishwar Naureen committed suicide by taking poison after his failure in the matriculation examination, here on Monday.
